Born in Ukiah raised in Anderson Valley, Gary and his family have been raising sheep and cattle all his life. He has hunted since he was old enough to carry a gun. He has been a professional Wildlife Service Specialist for 38 years. Gary comes from the Johnson ranching family who have been working livestock on their 5000 acre ranch for many decades in Anderson Valley. Gary not only has ranching and hunting skills but he is also Mendocino County's only trapper. He is renowned for his tracking skills and wildlife knowledge, and has helped many residents with marauding coyotes, uncontrolled dogs, and the occasional mountain lion. He has an high degree of respect and knowledge of the natural environment and the animals live that here.
