Redwood Forest Foundation's (RFFI) North Coast Biochar. Biochar is being touted as an answer to climate change. RFFI is converting excess forest waste into an ecologically desirable soil amendment. Brush and hardwoods that choke out desirable conifers are removed to restore the forest and prevent catastrophic wildfire. These materials, primarily tanoak, are converted to biochar at RFFI's biochar plant in Piercy. Adding Biochar to the soli reduces the need for water and fertilizer, storing carbon in the soil for hundreds of years. Many uses, e.g. water treatment. North Coast Biochar For Sale!
