Humane Poultry Processing

Filling your freezer with delicious chicken raised at home is relatively easy to do if you build your flock with intention and know how to process the birds. In this hands on workshop, we will demonstrate several ways to slaughter and butcher chickens humanely and safely. Participants will learn about the theory and practice of harvesting birds, including evisceration technique, anatomy and physiology, and best practices for storage after harvest. The School of Adaptive Agriculture will bring birds to demonstrate, but if you have birds at home that you'd like to process, bring them too!
